From Amortization to SOFR: New Abe® Student Loan & Financing Glossary Sharpens Borrowers’ Financial Aid Vocabulary

“Dictionary” Empowers Students & Families with More Knowledge and Insight

BOSTON, MA, UNITED STATES, September 10, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Borrowing for college comes with its own vocabulary. Mastering each term can help students and families better evaluate various financing options.

For that reason, the Abe® student loan website now features a comprehensive Student Loan & College Financing Glossary.*

The “dictionary” exposes borrowers to this specialized language and the differences between terms like interest rate and annual percentage rate (APR), or between deferment and forbearance.

Users can find more than 100 words and phrases organized into seven sections on Applying for Financial Aid, Federal Student Loans, Private Student Loans, How Interest Works, Repayment Options & Terms, Refinancing & Consolidation, and Other Helpful Terms. The complimentary glossary is accessible to all families, whether or not they are applying for an Abe student loan.

“When students or families are seeking financial aid, information is empowerment. A more detailed understanding of their choices helps borrowers to develop a financing plan that aligns with their future goals,” said Steve Winnie, President, Monogram LLC, which created and administers Abe.

The glossary defines different terms and, in many cases, explores their impact. For example, it not only explains what in-school payment/immediate repayment is (making principal and interest payments while still in school); it also points out that this strategy often lowers borrowers’ costs.

The “borrower dictionary” is one of many resources available through the Abe website and is accessible at abestudentloans.com/resources/student-loan-college-financing-glossary.

Abe stands out with a variety of features to support undergraduate, graduate, or professional student borrowers throughout the life of a loan. More information is available at abestudentloans.com.
