More Than $113B in Venture Capital Went to AI-Ready Data Infrastructure Since 2020: Crunchbase Report on Snowflake Ecosystem

Report analyzes Snowflake partner ecosystem as enterprise AI scaling drives capital concentration

SAN FRANCISCO, CA / ACCESS Newswire / May 13, 2026 / Crunchbase, the leading predictive intelligence solution that forecasts private market movements, in collaboration with Snowflake, the AI Data Cloud company, today published “Scaling AI: Insights from Startups in the Snowflake Partner Ecosystem,” a report illuminating where venture capital is concentrating to solve the data challenges stalling enterprise AI adoption at scale.

Drawing on Crunchbase’s proprietary startup data, the report reveals that more than 1,300 private companies in the Snowflake Partner Network (SPN) have collectively raised more than $113 billion in venture capital funding since 2020. While startups in the network raised $34 billion across more than 760 deals during the 2021 boom, 2025 saw capital consolidation, with $25.6 billion raised across a smaller set of 260 deals.

“Capital is increasingly concentrated in a small number of companies raising billions, while across the broader ecosystem, investors are picking winners as competition to break through intensifies,” said Gené Teare, research lead at Crunchbase. “AI is driving a fundamentally different investment cycle.”

Report Key Findings

  • Machine Learning and Data Science captured 45% of all deal funding ($51B) across the Snowflake Partner Network since 2020, reflecting enterprise demand for tools that build, train and deploy AI-driven analytics on governed data.

  • Security, Governance and Observability and Business Intelligence and Analytics each accounted for 24% of funding ($27B each), underscoring that trustworthy, actionable data is the foundation enterprises need before AI can scale.

  • ~130 private unicorns valued at $1B or above are active within the Snowflake Partner Network, with the total ecosystem balanced across seed (35%), early-stage (37%), and late-stage (29%) funding.

  • Crunchbase’s predictive intelligence signals strong momentum ahead: 44% of startups in the Snowflake ecosystem that have raised $5 million or more in funding are very likely or probable to raise another funding round, and 34% are very likely or probable to achieve a successful acquisition or IPO.

The report also spotlights Snowflake Ventures and the Snowflake Startup Accelerator, which support startups building on Snowflake with capital, go-to-market support and technical resources. Annual funding raised by Snowflake Ventures portfolio companies has climbed each year since 2023, with nearly $3 billion invested in 2025, according to Crunchbase data.

“As enterprises move from AI experimentation to production, success depends on more than models alone. It requires trusted data, context and holistic governance,” said Harsha Kapre, head of Snowflake Ventures. “Across the Snowflake partner ecosystem, we’re seeing strong momentum behind startups that pair technical innovation with clear customer value, helping organizations scale AI on secure, governed data foundations.”

The findings arrive ahead of Snowflake Summit 26, taking place June 1-4 in San Francisco. Learn more about the implications for startups seeking to serve AI-driven enterprises in 2026, and download the full report here.
