Black Girls Code and GoldieBlox Launch a New Season of Code Along to Expand AI Literacy for Girls Ready to Build What’s Next

Technology is reshaping every industry, every career path, and nearly every aspect of how we live, work, create, and connect. The question is not whether today’s girls will inherit a technology-driven future. The question is whether they will have the opportunity, confidence, and skills to help lead it – and the enthusiasm and drive to want to lead it.

Today, Black Girls Code announced the launch of Season 5 of Code Along, its free, video-based coding academy designed to help girls ages 7 to 18 discover that gaming, music, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship are more than hobbies or entertainment. They are entry points into the skills, mindsets, and opportunities that increasingly determine who gets to build the future. As emerging technologies redefine how we work, learn, and interact, building strong AI literacy alongside coding skills is essential to ensuring that girls of color are not merely adapting to the future, but actively shaping it.

“This is the season where our learners realize they don’t have to sit on the sidelines of innovation,” said Cristina Mancini, Chief Executive Officer of Black Girls Code. “Whether they are passionate about song creation, game development, or engineering, Code Along gives them the tools to explore and experiment with how technology aligns with their interests and discover that they belong in the future they are helping create. By building AI literacy alongside coding and creative skills, we are empowering girls to move from consumers of technology to confident creators, builders, and leaders.”

Premiering on YouTube on Saturday, June 13, Season 5 will deliver 13 episodes, released weekly, with step-by-step tutorials that deliver tangible skills – including foundational AI literacy – for building technology projects and introduce real-life STEM role models that provide inspiration around career opportunities in tech.
