New findings show how grooming habits vary by breed, season, and appointment timing

HOUSTON, Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Lucky Dog Mobile Groomers is sharing new data on the grooming habits of America’s dogs. Across more than 30 markets, the findings offer a snapshot of the state of mobile dog grooming, revealing when dogs are groomed, how long appointments take, and how coat-care needs vary by breed and season.

Since January, Lucky Dog has groomed an average of 231 dogs a day and logged more than 38,000 hours of hands-on grooming, the equivalent of roughly 4.4 continuous years of grooming, in just eight months. The company groomed the most dogs on Wednesdays, and customers booked 11 a.m. appointments more often than any other time.

The data also shows how grooming needs vary by breed and shift with the seasons. Standard poodles averaged 118 minutes per groom, compared with 43 minutes for pit bulls, illustrating how coat type can impact appointment length. Deshedding treatments also rose 24% from winter to midsummer. Among breeds, huskies received de-shedding treatments in 43.6% of appointments involving the breed, compared with 36% for German shepherds and 25.6% for Labs.
